Bodega Bay

Had a great weekend! I borrowed an RV from work and drove Allison, Karen and Dave to Bodega Dunes campground. This was the first time I’ve ever used an RV so it was interesting to say the least. The ride up to the campground we had to do at night and it took some time for me to unclench my fists from around the steering wheel once we did arrive.

We had a great time though. RVing is definitely the luxury living way to go camping. (On Sunday I made strawberry crepes for breakfast. Try that with a one burner campstove). Stuffing ourselves on fresh crab, homemade french onion soup and garlic bread was probably second only to the perfect day we spent kicking around on the beach.

Locks? What Locks?

This evening I finished reading Steel Bolt Hacking: The Computerman’s Guide To Lock Picking. It is a short book, but full of neat information on how to pick locks, both keyed and combination.

After finishing, I quickly set about making some of my own picking tools. I scoured the house for a padlock. About 10 minutes later I had successfully picked my first lock! This is no small feat considering how many times I have tried to pick locks in the past. I intend to run right out to my tooldbox and get the more challenging ‘discus padlock’ that is sitting inside.

If you are looking for the ultimate in geek hobbies…look no further. The ‘Steel Bolt Hacking…” book is a great introduction and will have you successfully picking locks in no time.

If your the kind of person that is wondering what type of degenerate sociopath would want to pick locks…find out all about it at lockpicking1001.com. I can say, that for myself, it is just about the fun challenge of a puzzle. That which was locked has become open!

When Scientists and Engineers Party

Allison’s boss had a party this Saturday. It wasn’t exceptional in any way…that is until the whisk(e)y tasting. Did you know that the word “whisky” is reserved for Irish whisky and “whiskey” is the term for all other beverages produced using the same distilation methods? Nor did I. Turns out they all get you drunk.

I took a bunch of pictures with my new camera phone. Most are really hazy. However, that produces some cool effects. Here’s our good friend Karen being as silly as she wants to be.

I’m utterly stunned by this… i guess. It isn’t the first time a corporation has been completely ignorant of changing times.
