I just read how Robert V. Dvorak and William A. Higinbotham created the first video game in 1958. What a trip! Not sure why Higinbotham gets more focus than Dvorak since Dvorak was the one who built the machine and even Higinbotham admits it was a collaboration. I couldn’t even find a picture of Robert Dvorak. Turns out he died in 1969 though.
Another Dvorak toiling in obscurity.

With Christmas nearly here, things are beginning to get a little hectic. The house renovations, which were planned to be completed by Thanksgiving, are still a long way from being done. Since my sister Melody and her husband Justin are coming for Christmas, I need to really get as much done as possible. Lay laminate and paint in one room and put up baseboards throughout the entire house…no problem to get that done in one week…right?
I have made my wekends that much easier by hiring a landscaping service. For the unbelievable low price of $50/month I am free of yardwork (basically..rose pruning not included)! I was expecting more like $50/week. I must say that it is incredibly worth it. The lanscapers do in 20 minutes what took about 2 hours for me to do…everyweekend.
On the gmail bug front…still not word from google. This issue is very disturbing.
Yesterday, as I was checking out my Gmail inbox, I stumbled across what might be a fairly serious Gmail bug. I noticed that while at my inbox, Firefox’s RSS bookmark subscription icon (little weird orange icon in the bottom right) had popped up. I thought that maybe this was a feature that would let me add my inbox as an RSS feed, so I decided to click my ‘Sub with Bloglines’ bookmarklet. I was stunned to see this list of, what I assume is, other Gmail users’ inboxes. Clicking ‘preview this feed’ then gave me display of summaries for each email in that user’s inbox! In addition, the url of the feed contained the username and the password for that user. View a screenshot
I have an email into the Gmail team about this, but haven’t heard anything back. Could be just a fluke, but seems pretty bad to me.
