Scott’s Flat Lake

August 25th, 2008 No Comments »

This weekend I took the Daysailer up to Scott’s Flat Lake. Scott’s Flat lake is great for sailing and usually has dependable winds in the 10-15knt range.  Not so much this weekend, but it was still great fun anyway.

We did some sailing on Saturday and then found a nice little beach to tie up the boat and go swimming.

On Sunday we got a tip that the north end of the lake had some nice coves to beach at and do some more swimming and hang out.  We brought Jack and Maya and they had an absolute blast swimming and fetching sticks.

Friday Night Beer Can Racing

John Wolfe and Simon Dvorak sailing in the S.F. Bay

Occasionally, I run out to Richmond on Friday nights to race sailboats in the Berkeley circle in San Francisco bay. These riday night races are called “Beer can” races. This particular Friday’s race had some really extreme conditions: huge swells and 20 knot winds.

A photographer happened to be out there getting shots of the racers and managed to grab a couple great shots of me and the skipper and owner of the Ultimate 20 I sail on, John Wolfe.
